We Shot a Pilot!

This past weekend we shot our new pilot, Two Gays & a Girl! Over 3 very hot, but very fun & productive days, we shot it on no budget with our small core team and a couple talented new additions. And I have to say, I'm so proud & impressed! With the exception of some very annoying planes overhead on Sunday, we had no major issues. We wrapped early every day, and got all the coverage we planned. We're all really excited to piece it together!

We shared some photos from the shoot on the series Facebook page. We'll be posting more over the next few months. We begin post-production next week, and then it's months of rough cuts & adjustments. We're aiming for a 21 to 23 minute pilot, which we'll submit to the NYTV Festival, and then hopefully be able to pitch it or generate enough interest to get a 9 episode web series fully funded (which would include paying everyone who works on it). For right now though, first thing's first: gotta get the footage off to our editor!

CongestedCat Shorts: Cast, Crew & Supporter Screening Recap

Last night was our private cast, crew & supporter screening of our 2 new shorts, and we had about 25 people in house. Thank you everyone who came out, and who supported the films on Seed&Spark last year!

Those in attendance had some lovely comments about both films, but could not stop raving about "Not Our Living Room" in particular. Kelsey & I personally have a little more preference for "We Had Plans," but that's mostly because it's more subtle & nuanced and feels like a bigger achievement due to how it's subverting gender and exploring something big in a variety of very confined ways. However, the films are so drastically different; in tone, feel, story & most importantly our intention behind each. The theme of loss and the motif of exploring siblings stuck (metaphorically or literally) in a room together is all that unites them. Normally, I wouldn't compare my work against itself, but screening them back to back and funding them as companion pieces sort of brought that out in everyone. I think "We Had Plans" requires rewatch, while "Not Our Living Room" only invites it. So, I'm curious to hear feedback from our supporters again when they've had the opportunity to rewatch both.

It was the 1st time we screened "Not Our Living Room" for an audience, but the 2nd for "We Had Plans." The 1st for that was last month (exactly 1 month ago) at the NYC PictureStart Film Festival. Check out the recap of that & see what the audience reaction was like HERE.

We're crossing our fingers for some additional festival screenings for both films later this year!

"Juice It" Online Premiere

Today we finally premiere Christina's short "Juice It," online for the world to see. Shot back in August 2013, after Summit (January) and 'Kelsey' (May-July), on less than $500, made possible thanks to many of our favorite people, we present Christina's absurd take on the true story of she and Justin (her fiancé) attempting a juice cleanse. 

Christina has recapped all of its festival screenings (that she's attended). First back in September at the Coney Island Film Festival, then in March at the Queens World Film Festival, and most recently in May at the Damn! Film Series.
